Morung Express News Rotomi | October 8   Parliamentary Secretary for Justice & Law and SIRD, Er. Picto Shohe on Saturday put high value on honesty and discipline and urged children to follow the two principles in all situations.   He was speaking as the chief guest at the Cultural Session of the 10th SBAK (NM) Children Festival which is underway at Rotomi village under the theme, “Heroes of Change.”   Er. Picto emphasized on culture and tradition as a very important aspect of life for Naga people as it reflects their identity and encouraged the gathering to preserve and promote one’s culture. He also spoke about gender equality in cultural aspects and drew attention to the increasing practise of both men and women performing folk dance together rather than separately.   The chief guest lauded the SBAK (NM) for taking the initiative to organize children festival which he hope would bring thousands of children closer to God. “Bringing these children closer to God at a very young age would obviously reap rich dividends in the future,” he added. Er. Picto also talked about the importance of peace to usher in development and vice versa.   Pointing out that many present Church leaders had taken decision at Rotomi village on different occasions to serve God when they were young, Er. Picto was optimistic that many children attending the programme today would also choose to serve God. Referring to Colossians 2:7 he urged children to be rooted in the Word of God, live and walk with Him.   Later, the chief guest declared the cultural session open which was marked with various traditional performances by Churches from Khukiye Lukhai, Aghunato Town, UBC Satakha, Shena Old, SBC Naltoqa and SBC Zunheboto.   Around 4000 children are participating in the children festival which started on October 7 and would culminate on October 9.
