Dimapur, MarCH 2 (MExN): Responding to a news item highlighting fewer posting of 9th NAP (IR) battalion officers “as if the government is unaware of the requirement”, the Home department today clarified that the matter has been highlighted in a government notification dated February 28, 2007.
The order of posting of officers as per existing vacancies was issued vide government notification No. POL-1/ESTT/31/93 dated February 28, 2007, clarified a rejoinder from K Kire, Special Secretary to the Government of Nagaland. In view of the bye-election announced fro Dimapur and Tuensang, it was necessary to get clarifications from the Chief Election Officer to ensure that there was no breach of Election Code and this process took “a little time” the rejoinder stated.
“The PHQ does not have direct access to the Home Minister for such matters, once a proposal is submitted by PHQ, it is processed in file which is examined by the Police Establishment Board which is chaired by the Chief Secretary. Therefore the recommendation of the board is submitted to the Home Minister and Chief Minister” it stated.
The department also lamented that ‘without knowing the system and procedure, the news item has misled the readers and this may also have a negative impact on the jawans and officers who are in the field’. “In future, it is advised that all clarifications be made from the department before such news of serious nature are printed” it added.
