Homeopathy: Health talk & camp on founder’s birth anniv

Coinciding with the 263rd birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathic system of medicine, ICFAI University, Nagaland organized a symposium for holistic health (SHH) ‘Health talk-health camp’ here at the university campus on Tuesday.  

In the ‘health talk’, state program officer (NAM), Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Seyiekhrietuo John, said in 2014, Government of India set up the Ministry of AYUSH, a healthcare and medicine system which also included homeopathy. The main objective of the AYUSH Ministry is to promote AYUSH medicine system, to strengthen educational system and to facilitate enforcement of quality control of medicine systems, he informed.  

In Nagaland, he said, the some notable activities undertaken by the Ministry include setting up of a 10-bedded AYUSH hospital in Dimapur, ongoing construction of a 50-beded AYUSH hospital in Kohima, while another 50-bedded AYUSH hospital in Mokokchung has been approved.  

Informing that AYUSH hospital would be set up in every district in Nagaland, the state program officer (NAM) also stated by 2018-19 all district hospitals and community health centres (CHCs) would have separate AYUSH departments.  

While an Ayurveda research centre has already been set up in Kohima, plans are afoot to establish a homeopathy research unit in Dimapur, Seyiekhrietuo said.  

Dr. Ruusietyonuo, medical officer – AYUSH, community health centre, Peren, spoke on the principles of homeopathy.  

Earlier, Dr. CP Alexander, vice chancellor, ICFAI University, Nagaland, who delivered welcome address, also highlighted the life and career of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann.  

Later, a health camp was conducted where homeopathy doctors from Kohima and Dimapur and other districts treated and prescribed medicines to the patients.
