Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has expressed shock over the demise of V Horam, Member of Steering Executive, NSCN (IM) at Zion Hospital, Dimapur after a prolonged illness on October 13.
The GNF in a condolence note said that Horam has fought the good fight. “By courageously sacrificing his personal life and dreams against all odds and hegemonies, at the altar of Naga Nation, he humbly but resolutely fought for all Nagas beyond arbitrary boundaries, for our fathers, mothers, and children of a future that a United Naga Homeland promises,” the forum said.
It stated that “The pain he has endured for so long embodies the pain of all Nagas, the aspirational battle for Nagas to live as one undivided people. We will never forget it. Although short-lived in his passing away, we believe he will live long enough to see the budding fruits of his sweat and blood that he sacrificed for us all. The fond memories of rare and tall leaders such as him will never die.”
“Horam will be remembered as a true Naga son who remained consistent in his unwavering commitment to the Naga cause. It is a great loss that he has left at this critical and most hopeful juncture of our long struggle,” GNF stated while offering deepest condolences to Susan Horam and children and the rest of the family.
In a separate press release, M Daniel Lotha, Kilo Kilonser, NSCN (IM) expressed deep sadness over the demise of V Horam. Stating it as a “disaster for the NSCN and also for the Naga Nation,” Lotha said that Horam was one of the rare untainted leader and servant of society, with a commendable degree of political maturity and knowledge of issues in the nation and the Naga people at large and therefore, “This great loss cannot be expressed just in words”
He added that his untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the entire nation and the life will go on but it will be very difficult for the nation to find another Horam. Lotha offered condolences to the family and extended “revolutionary salute” to the departed soul.
