The state audition for the Hornbill National Rock Contest 2011 (HNRC 2011) was held on November 15at the Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima. 19 bands from different parts of the state auditioned. This year’s audition was tough as only three slots remain, with one slot already being taken by the band Avancer, winner of the Nsacs Rock Aware Contest getting a direct entry into the competition. The other three bands that have qualified from the State to compete and rub shoulders with some of the best bands in the country in random order are 'Sunep Assemble Band',' In The Name' and 'Rock Ventures'. The four selected bands are to mail their band Profile with photos to hornbillmusic@gmail.com or submit it to the events secretary at the HNRC control Room at Unitex inc. Opp War cemetery, Kohima.
The Hornbill Music festival will be held from December 1 to 7, 2011at the Indira Gandhi Stadium , a part of which will be the HNRC 2011, a competition of Rock Bands starting from the of December 4 to 7.
The Choral Panorama on December 3 will feature choirs from different parts of the state heralding in Christmas. This is a non competitive event and those choirs desirous of performing can contact the Events Secretary Ngipwang Angily at 09089895010 for other details and registration.
