HSSLC 2025 Examination begins with new tech-driven transparency

17, 194 students across 68 centres appear for exam

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 11 (MExN): The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination for 2025 commenced today, with 17,194 students enrolled across 68 examination centres in Nagaland.

A significant feature of this year's examination, as highlighted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), is the introduction of the NBSE Connect App-Question Paper Tracking. The app, launched on January 21, 2025, aims to ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process.

According to a press release issued by the NBSE Secretary, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, the app provides real-time updates on the movement of question papers across the state's districts.

Centre Superintendents are required to take time-bound photos of the question papers at various stages, capturing geolocation data and time stamps. This allows the Board to track the position of the question papers at every examination centre conducting the HSLC and HSSLC exams.

Out of the 68 examination centres, 65 successfully uploaded geotagged, time-stamped photos using the app on the first day of the exam, the press release informed.

The NBSE outlined the process for using the NBSE Connect App in a step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Centre Superintendent at Treasury Office/Bank
Centre Superintendents must capture a photo when they reach the Treasury Office or Bank, marking their arrival between 7:30 AM and 8:40 AM, beyond which the CS will not be able to access this step.

Step 2: Custodian to Centre Superintendent
The Centre Superintendent must take a photo upon receiving the question papers from the Treasury Office or Bank in a sealed condition, within the same time window of 7:30 AM to 8:40 AM.

Step 3: Opening of Question Paper
Upon receiving the question papers at the examination centre, the Centre Superintendent must take a picture in the control room to confirm the papers' arrival in sealed condition, to be completed between 8:30 AM and 9 AM.

Step 4: Packing & Sealing of Answer Scripts
After the examination, the Centre Superintendent must take a picture of the sealed answer scripts after packing, between 12 PM and 2 PM.

Step 5: Delivery to Post Offices
The Centre Superintendents are required to deliver the sealed answer scripts to the post office between 12 PM and 2 PM on the same day.

These steps are monitored in real-time at the Board's office by an administrative user, enabling the Board to maintain oversight and improve the quality of the examination process. The introduction of this technology is expected to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the examination system in Nagaland, the NBSE asserted.
