Chozuba, April 13 (MExN): Huluyi D Vadeo of Centre Chakhesang Sports Association emerged as the champion of the arm wrestling event for 37th meet Phek District Sports Association played here at Chozuba on Thursday. 

Competing among the best arm wrestlers in the district, it was the 20 year old Chakhesang Open Wrestling champion Vadeo that defeated Basayi Keyho of Phek Area by straight round in the final round to take the gold medal. Vechita Khesoh had to be contended with a bronze medal after losing against Vadeo in the semifinal round. 

For women’s arm wrestling, Jopolhulu Shijoh won the first gold medal for Sekruzu Area defeating Shodulu Swiho of Chokri Area in the final match. Mesüte-u Kapfo of Khezha-Kuzha Tephe took the bronze medal in the arm wrestling event. 

At the end of the third day, Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) added a bronze medal to continue leading the medal table tally with 24 medals (11 gold, 6 silver, 8 bronze). While Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) in second position with 27 medals (8 gold, 15 silver, 4 bronze) and Centre Chakhesang Sports Association move ahead of Phek Area Sports Association in third place with 9 medals (4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze).

In men’s volleyball, Chokri Area, Khezha-Kuzha Tephe, Chozuba Area and Seceku Area have entered the semifinal round of the sports meet. Chokri Area have won three matches in the league round and will play against Seceku Range in the semifinal round. While Chozuba Area will play against Khezha-Kuzha Tephe in the second semifinal match. 

In men’s football, Seceku Range, Centre Chakhesang, Chokri Area, Khezha-Kuzha Tephe, Chozuba Area, Tizu Area, Phoyisha Area, Phek District have enter the quarter final round. In a must win match for Sekruzu Area to qualify for the quarter final match, defending champion Centre Chakhesang Sports Association beat Sekruzu by a solitary goal in the first half that ended the campaign for Sekruzu team saga for the football event. 

In women’s football, Centre Chakhesang defeated Chokri Area by a solitary goal and Khezha-Kuzha Tephe overcame Phek Area 2-1 to enter the semifinal round. Seceku Range beat Sekruzu Area by 1-0 and Chozuba Area defeated Tizu Area by a solitary goal to enter the semifinal round.
