Humtsoe apologizes for fraud attempt

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): The person in the center of the recent NSACS fraud case, Richard Humtsoe, has come out with a statement wherein while clarifying on certain counts in regard to the matter, admitted to the offense and has offered an apology to all concern.

“I committed an offense by ‘attempting to withdraw’ a cheque of Rs 3, 75, 84,000 from the SBI meant for NSACS. I know I made a big mistake by trying to ‘withdraw the money’. However I thank God that till date not even one rupee was withdrawn of misused by me; I apologize to god and the people for the offense I committed. I express regret to the police for the over duty and sleepless nights I gave. I am indeed sorry from the bottom of my heart” Humtsoe stated in a “statement of facts”. Humtsoe also clarified that he is not the founder of Samata Party as reported by the media.

Relating the events of the case, Richard Humtsoe stated that he came to know a person who introduced himself as Pradeep Vadhra, in Delhi, and promised Humtsoe “an easy way of becoming rich” if they can work together. Humtsoe did not know that “I will become a victim of his tempting proposition” but “I agreed that we should work together”.

Then one day Vadhra informed Humtsoe that a registered letter containing a draft meant for the NSACS was sent to Kohima and directed that the same be “check up” from the Kohima Postal Office. “I followed his instructions without sensing the consequences of the offence” Humtsoe stated.

Thereafter, Humtsoe convinced Joseph Angami, Postal Assistance that the letter be given to him. “He obliged being convinced that it was an urgent one. I took my wife along with me to Joseph. However, neither Joseph nor my wife is involved in any conspiracy of the illegal act” he stated.

Humtsoe also informed that he is recovering from an illness and “I have no reason to abscond from the law and in due time I will face justice and explain the same truth I had stated. I should be fit and fine physically soon, to face justice. I am a changed man now as a result of this episode.

I will hereafter live righteously for the Lord and work hard to remove the stigma, the smear I have created for myself for a life. I will earn respect and love from my fellow brethren by living to serve the poor and the needy people with the best of my abilities”, Humtsoe assured.
