Dimapur, June 5 (MExN): Reverend Phughoto Aye was installed as the Pastor of the Sumi Baptist Church Dimapur (SBCD) today. The church was left without a pastor following the sudden demise of senior pastor, Reverend Inaho G Swu earlier this year. Reverend Swu had shouldered responsibilities for nearly a decade. Reverend Aye (55) has 28 years experience in the church ministry. He has worked in different capacities as an active Christian leader. He is also a member of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
Reverend Aye thanked SBCD for having faith in his capability to head the church as pastor. He said being a pastor is not an easy task; adding that despite his years of experience, pastoral service remains a very big challenge. “This is my first time as pastor and I don’t know if I can live up to your expectations but I will try,” he told the congregation. Reverend Aye humbly said that he will serve the church to the best of his ability, with whatever little knowledge he has gained over the years. He prayed for support and cooperation from the church members and the board of deacons.

He further urged the church members to extend support to the new pastor and enable him to lead the church in the right direction. He hoped that under Reverend Aye’s leadership SBCD will grow. Reverend Aye takes over at the time when SBCD is building a school in Arunachal Pradesh and also sponsoring a number of young people as missionaries to other places.
