IAPNB organizes seminar on chronic pain & exercise

Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): The Indian Association of Physiotherapist Nagaland Branch (IAPNB) organised a seminar on ‘chronic pain and exercise’ to commemorate the celebration of ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ on September 9 at 15th NAP (IR) Mahila bn Chümuokedima.
The IAPNB in a press release issued stated that around 350 IR personals attended the seminar. The session was chaired by Dr Avikuonuo Pienyu PT,State General Secretary IAPNB who started the programme with an invocation prayer followed by a short speech from Yangba Konyak NPS, commandant 15th NAP(IR) mahila Bn.
The release said that Yanba stated the importance and need of physiotherapy in general public and also the lack of proper knowledge about the profession. A short introductory speech was delivered by the IAPNB state president Dr Tiatula Longkumer (PT). In her introduction she highlighted about the current state of physiotherapy in Nagaland, the treatment available and what physiotherapy can do for pain.
The seminar was conducted in two phases, the first phase was taken by Dr Inato Achumi(PT) who stressed on the mechanism of chronic pain, how it affects the body and the individual as a whole. He emphasized on the different types of pain, its diagnosis and risk factors associated with chronic pain.
The second phase of the seminar was taken by Dr Livino Achumi(PT) who shared on the importance of exercise and the benefits of daily exercise. The programme proceeded with live demonstration of exercise with the participation of 15th NAP (IR) mahila Bn.
Later, the vote of thanks was pronounced by Temsunochet Changkija,Dy.Co 15th NAP(IR)mahila Bn. He acknowledged the presence of the entire unit, the officials and the team of IAPNB for their efforts and requested for future collaboration.
In addition, the world physiotherapy day was also celebrated all over Nagaland, where the physiotherapist on Kohima held a free physiotherapy health check up at various clinics n hospital organised by Nagaland Physiotherapist Association (NPA) on collaboration with IAPNB, the release said.
