Longleng, March 31 (MExN): A Six day training programme on ‘Protected cultivation of High-Value Vegetables’ under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) under National institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) was organized by ICAR-KVK Longleng from March 25 to 30 at KVK Longleng.
 
Altogether 28 rural youths from Orangkong and Oushok villages attended the training.
 
Valedictory function was graced by Dr KL Meena, Senior Scientist & Head; Dr RK Roshan, ACTO (Horticulture), KVK Longleng; Dr Lily Ngullie, SMS (Animal Science), KVK Longleng; Thungchanou E, Prog Asst (Home Science), KVK Longleng.
 
Resource person from different disciplines namely Dr RK Roshan ACTO (Horticulture), KVK Longleng; Dr KL Meena, Sr Scientist and Head, KVK Longleng, KVK Longleng; Thungchanou E, Prog Asst (Home Science), KVK Longleng; A Namei, SRF, Dr Mithilesh Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor & Head and C Amei Phom, Agriculture Officer Longleng gave lectures and conducted demonstration on different aspect of the topic.
 
Vegetable nursery establishment, different methods of propagation, use of plastic in horticulture, production of various high value vegetables crops, vegetable based integrated farming system, bee keeping, composting, protected cultivation using low cost poly house and poly tunnel, value addition and post-harvest technology of various high value vegetables crops etc were discussed along with practical demonstration.
