ICFAI Tripura Campus, IT Dept collaborate to highlight importance of paying tax

Mohanpur (Tripura), May 12 (MExN): The ICFAI University Tripura Campus in collaboration with the Income Tax (IT) Department of Agartala organised a seminar on the importance of paying and ease of tax compliance on May 11.

The main objective of the seminar was to sensitise the people about the payment of income tax, informed a press release from the University. 

Among others, Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof (Dr) Biplab Halder; Commissioner of North East Region Income Tax, C Deepak Singh; Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Agartala, Syamal Datta; Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Guwahati  MS Bardoloi; and the Academic Dean of the University Tripura, Dr Subhasish Chatterjee, attended the inaugural session. 

On the occasion, Dr Halder explained the role of a responsible citizen for payment of income tax while Singh emphasised how paying taxes can help in building a nation and make the country prosperous.

Further, Datta shared on how tax revenue can be utilised for building healthcare and educational institutions while Bardoloi enumerated the various welfare schemes the government runs with the help of paid tax.

Around 110 students of the university participated in the seminar, which also featured quiz sessions, question-answer sessions, and audiovisual presentations, the release said. Prizes were distributed among the winners from the Income tax department.
