Kohima, September 1 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya has conveyed his greetings to the people of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, particularly all Muslims in both the States, on the occasion of Id-ul Zuha. In a message, the Governor hoped that the sacred occasion will further strengthen the rich Islamic tradition of faith, brotherhood and devotion amongst the believers and others. He noted that Id-ul Zuha, also known as Bakrid, is celebrated by Muslims across the globe in honour of Prophet Ibrahim, who was even willing to sacrifice his son Ismail to please ‘Allah’. “This festival epitomizes the noble values of sacrifice, trust and forgiveness. I wish that this festival inspire all of us to sacrifice our personal benefits in the larger interest of the country as a whole,” the Governor stated. He called on all to firmly resolve and build a peaceful, harmonious, fraternal and progressive society. “I wish that Allah’s blessings light up the path of oneness and lead to happiness and success.”
More Id greetings
In a separate message, Mukibur Rahman, President, BJP Minority Morcha, Nagaland State also extended Id-ul Zuha greetings to the people of Nagaland, especially the Muslim community. Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) also extended wishes to all citizens of Nagaland. A Jalil Tapadar, General Secretary, MCD, on behalf of the Council, while extending the Id greetings prayed to ‘Allah’ to extend his blessings upon all humankind so that “we can all live in peace and harmony.” MCD also requested all Muslims to attend Id prayers at 7:45 am at Dimapur Iddgah and requested all to maintain discipline and try not to disturb the traffic on road. The Dimapur District Citizens forum (DDCF) also extended Id-ul Zuha greetings to the Muslim “brothers and sisters” of Nagaland. Joseph Lemtur, president DDCF hoped that the festival of sacrifice and prayer will bring a new era of peace and tranquility among the different sections of people living in Nagaland.
