The 4th Leadership Development Training conducted by the Institute for Development of Leadership (IFDOL) is currently underway at Clark Theological College (CTC) Aolijien from April 18-28 where church leaders from the six eastern Nagaland tribes are currently being trained by different resource persons on different topics.
The Institute for Development of Leadership (IFDOL) is a leadership development programme organized by the six Baptist Associations in Eastern Nagaland in partnership with its churches and Clark theological College. The training integrates diverse subjects and issues challenging the present church ministry.
On the third day, Editor of The Morung Express, Dr Aküm Longchari enlightened the participants on ‘Conflict management and peace building’. While dwelling on the leadership aspect, Dr Longchari challenged the church leaders to shepherd the people, to lead and carry the people with responsibility. He also asserted that leadership also calls for admission of mistakes whenever one commits a mistake. However, he lamented that many leaders today finds it hard to admit their mistakes. He further urged the church leaders to empower and strengthen the people for a better Naga society.
Speaking with The Morung Express, the program coordinator, Y Nuklu Phom – executive secretary PBCA – disclosed that the Leadership Development Training is having a positive impact on the church leaders and churches in eastern Nagaland. He disclosed that not only the participants but also the church members have reported of immense changes in the system, the way of preaching, and leadership skills after attending the training. He disclosed that the church workers are the ones who are requesting the IFDOL to conduct the leadership development training.
“The training programme is going in a right direction; as per the success of the training programme, there are different organizations and unions, not only from Nagaland but even from outside the states are expressing keen interest to partner with us,” said Y Nuklu Phom.
He also said that this is the first time that the training programme has women trainees, where fifteen women church leaders are participating in the progamme.
It may be noted here that the IFDOL training progamme is not necessarily a church or gospel oriented training, but focuses on the overall training to enhance the leadership qualities of a church worker. Towards these end, the IFDOL ropes in resource persons from varied fields like bureaucrats, educationists, Editors and theologians give intensive trainings to the participants.
The programme will conclude on April 28, 2016 where the participants will be awarded certificates.
