Major General Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) today flagged off the construction work of helipad at Ruzazho village.
Ruzazho village is located in Chozuba Sub Division of Phek district.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Lakhera maintained that peace brings development. He wished everyone Merry Christmas and peace & love for each other. He assured to conduct a medical camp in the village in the coming times.
“Ruzazho village holds special significance in the history as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose stayed in this village for nine days during 2nd World War. It is also known to be the first Azad Hind Sarkar administered village in India,” stated an update from PRO, HQ IGAR (N).
The flagging off ceremony was followed by a visit to morung at Ruzazho where Netaji reportedly stayed there for nine days.
The village elders were presented with blankets, while children were gifted with mugs specially designed for the festive season by Assam Rifles.
The army officers also interacted and felicitated evangelist Poswuyi Swuro, Ex DB Area Administrator Indian National Army, who turns 104 years.
The Helipad, once constructed will not only increase the options for tourism in the village, but will also help the villagers of all nearby villages in need of an emergent medical evacuation, according to a release received here.
The construction of the helipad is undertaking by Assam Rifles.
Brigadier Herjinder Singh, Commander 5 Sector, Assam Rifles, Col. Umesh Sati, Commandant, 1st Assam Rifles, Sanjay Tandon, Commandant 111 BSF and other dignitaries also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the public reception programme was chaired by Dr. Er. Vekho Swuro while Sesato Swuro delivered welcome address.
