IGP clarifies on allegations

Kohima, April 10 (MExN): Responding to allegations made by some soldiers of the 10 IRB, the IGP (NAP), I. Toshitsungba Aier today informed The Morung Express that the allegations are a result of rumors. He said, “We are looking into this matter and disciplinary action will be taken on the soldiers who have spread these allegations.” The IGP stated, “There are differences in travelling allowances (TA) and daily allowances (DA) during journey and duty periods.” He informed that soldiers are given allowances on the basis of rank. He stated, “An allowance of Rs 250 and Rs 325 as TA (journey period) and DA (duty period) is allotted to soldiers from the rank of Commandant to Inspector,” while soldiers from the rank of an ABSI to constable are allotted Rs 225 as TA and Rs 275 as DA whereas NCs are allotted Rs 150 and RS 175.

Responding to the allegations on the Rail reservations, he said, “their departure was pre-poned following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Rail reservations were arranged by the Ministry under CRPF warrant and not the State Police department.”

He added that there was a shortage of Sleeper berths as they had to leave earlier than the scheduled date. The IGP said that the PHQ is trying its best to ensure sleeper berths for all soldiers. “We are against issue of General berths to the soldiers and we requested the Ministry to look into the matter too,” he said. The IGP further assured that the soldiers would be allotted their allowances for the exact number of days during their stay in Karnataka.
