ILP issue: JCILPS continues verification drive in Manipur

  Newmai News Network Imphal | July 14   As part of the continued verification drive of "non-locals" by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), a verification drive was conducted at Hatta Golapati in Imphal East district and found 6 persons without the possession of 'proper' documents of identification. They were handed over to the concerned police station. Altogether 462 people were verified this morning jointly by the United Development Council, Hatta Golapati in collaboration with JCILPS. The verification drive started at around 4.30 am and continued till 9 am.   Muslim Council Manipur (MCM) President, Haji Arafat Ali maintained that the verification drive was conducted to remove the notion of the people that many non-locals without valid identification proof were provided shelter in Hatta Golapati locality. Haji also said they are in favour of the strict implementation of ILP in the state.   “We are trying to clear up public worries: Muslims are providing settle to non-local”. He asserted that “Muslim Civil Organisation will support the JCILPS movement and promised to continue verification drives of non-locals in other Muslim dominate areas like Mantripukhri, Lilong and others.
