Former Governor and five-time Chief Minister of Nagaland Dr SC Jamir has dispelled his death rumours in a video message saying he is in “very good health.”

In a video message apparently posted from New Delhi, the 87-year old veteran politician from Nagaland informed “all concerned” that he is well and carrying out normal duties.

‘I’m in very good health carrying out my normal duties,” he said in the video shared on social media on February 19.

“I’ve come to Delhi to attend a very very important meeting. I’ll be here for another two to three days,” Jamir further informed.

“Thereafter I’ll come back to Nagaland.  And I will be available to whosoever would like to meet me at Chümoukedima,” he added.

Since February 18, rumours of Jamir’s death were doing round on social media and newspapers offices were inundated with calls to confirm the same.

This is the second time in two years, ‘fake news’ regarding his health conditions or death has been doing round on social media and other media outlets.

In October 2017, another rumour surfaced insinuating that Jamir had “suffered a heart attack and was admitted to hospital.”

Refuting the news, Jamir, then the Odisha Governor, also released a video message informing that he had come to the Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneshwar for normal check up and he was “perfectly all right.’

“It is unfortunate that false news has been circulated through media throughout India that I had a heart attack,” Jamir said in the message, adding, “I am perfectly all right. Nothing to worry about.”
