Improve hygiene: Dmp CMO directs food establishments

DIMAPUR, JULY 24 (MExN): The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur today directed all food handlers and dealers; all manufacturing and processing units such as restaurants, bakeries, hotels, food stalls, packaged drinking water plant, ice cream factories and other edible food items shops in Dimapur to improve hygiene in their facilities/units within 14 days from the date of issue of this order. The CMO notice informed that sale of food items without FSSAI Certification and use of prohibited chemicals in fruits and vegetables will be penalized as per the provisions of Food Safety& Standard Act 2006. Regular surprise checking will be carried out after the 14 days grace period. Defaulters will be penalized under the Food Safety & Standard Act 2006, it added. The Department of Health & Family Welfare meanwhile thanked officials representing various departments such as the Administration, Police, DMC, DCCI and Naga Council for their support and cooperation during the food safety drive.
