Dimapur, April 3 (MExN): The Joint Secretary, Department of Power Sara S Jamir emphasised on the need to improve revenue collection in order to improve power supply in the state of Nagaland.

Making the observation during the year ending (FY 2021-22) meeting of the State Level Special Revenue Team, Power Department, at SLDC Nagarjan on April 2, Jamir stated that the Nagaland, being a purchasing state, the Department is unable to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers. However, with whatever little the department could provide, she said that the consumers should religiously pay bills, according to a DIPR report.

With the improvement of revenue collection, she said that the department could provide better power supply to consumers in days to come. Power being a service sector, priority should be given to provide good service to consumers, she added.

Sara S Jamir, who is also the Team Leader, congratulated Team Dimapur and Chümoukedima for achieving Rs 102 crore jointly. She commended the Dimapur and Chümoukedima Divisions for collecting more that 50% against the rest of the state’s revenue collection during the Financial Year 2021-22, the DIPR report stated.

She is also said to have encouraged the two divisions to keep up the momentum and work towards achieving 100% of the revenue target in the coming years.

With regard to pre-paid meters, she requested EE Dimapur to go for extensive sensitisation of target areas and explain to them about the details of prepaid matters in layman's term like how to recharge, necessary thing to be done after the installation and Government of India notification of mandatory installation of prepaid matters, so that there will be no problem in transition from postpaid to prepaid meters.
