Indigenous games enliven Poang Lüm celebrations

Traditional and indigenous games enlivened the Poang Lüm cum Mini Hornbill Festival 2021 celebrations here today at Loyem Memorial Ground, Tuensang.

Under the theme “Qui-Qui” (Highly Exalted), the festival was celebrated under the aegis of the Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS).

After the inaugural programme a marathon of traditional games were played where Chang apex bodies, Poang Lüm committee members, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, DIG 3rd NAP and other dignitaries participated. 

The marathon of games included traditional javelin throw, bamboo slashing, cross bow shooting and spear target. It was followed by indigenous games such as Chang Strongest Man, Haapung race (Go-Karting), King Chilli eating competition, fire making and traditional water carrier contest for women.
