Dimapur, May 26 (MExN): The Rongmei Naga Council, Assam, has appealed to the Naga Hoho for “kind and special consideration” of inducting at least one member into the Naga Hoho from the State of Assam, who can represent the Nagas living in Assam.
The apex body of Rongmei Naga civil society in Assam stated that there are three Naga tribes living in the State of Assam, viz., Rongmei Nagas who live in three district of Assam (i.e. Cachar, Hailakandi and Dima Hasao), Zeme Nagas who are concentrated in Dima Hasao, and Rengma Nagas in Karbi Anglong District.
“The need of representation of civil society from Assam to Naga Hoho is necessary to have a statement on core issues, for integration of Nagas in Assam with other Nagas in Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Burma, and many other matters, related with Nagas in Assam with the other civil organisation of Assam,” a statement from RNC stated.
