Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): The Guwhati High Court is said to have given a verdict that Industrial Village is not under the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC). According to a GB of Industrial Village, the high court has declared the village to be outside of the DMC and so the census operations of 2011 conducted within the village by enumerators is “final and conclusive according to the census Act.”
A note from GB TL Angami said the village’s authorities have power to issue “village patta” within the village “according to ages-old customary practices approved by law” said to have been “confirmed by the honorable Guwhati High Court in WP ( c) No. 77 (K) 2010.”
“In view of the finding of the competent court, also the village land of the Industrial village Razhuphe was never acquired by the government according to due process of law. And as such, the government patta or Jamabandi holders within the village have no right to occupy the village land or to sell out the Naga traditional village land without valid village document,” the GB claimed.
