Injured Lahorijan man admitted at Dimapur

Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): One person has been injured when a dagger was used to attack him after he reportedly refused to pay extortion money to one Bijay Boruah.
The incident occurred at AK bazaar in Lahorijan, in neighbouring Assam on February 20 at about 11.45 am, when the Bijay, the accused started demanding ` 200 each from the shopkeepers.
In the process, Hori Thousen, the person incharge of the Petroleum & Land Transport Workers’ Federation of India (PLTWFI) information-sub-centre and a members of the Santi Bazar Committee was attacked by a dagger when he refused to oblige to Bihay Boruah.
The gravely injured Thousen has been admitted to Shamrock Hospital in Dimapur, informed a release issued by Krishna Bhattarai, general secretary Petroleum & Land Transport Workers’ Federation of India (P.L.T.W.F.I.) Assam State Unit, whose office is based at Diphu in Karbi Anglong.
Quoting sources, the union informed that the weekly market which happens every Sunday is usually guarded by a patrolling team from Dillai PS.
It noted that on the day of the crime, the patrol party was absent and that may have encouraged the attacker to carry out the crime.
It termed as “negligence” on the part of the police patrolling duty as they failed to arrest the accused man.
The federation said an FIR has been lodged at Dillai PS and urged the authorities to arrest Bijay Boruah within seven days,
failing which it would take the course of agitation against the police.
