Intangki belongs to Nagas in general: CKS

Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): The Chang Khulei Setshang today declared that the Intangki Forest controversy is a common Naga issue and added that the land belongs to the Nagas in general and not to any particular tribe or individual. A press statement issued by the CKS President, while expressing deep concern over the whole issue, said that land belongs to the Nagas aw a whole.

“Any claim of this land by any particular tribe or community without the historical basis would only bring disharmony and misunderstanding amongst various Naga tribes, who now enjoy equal status as a Naga,” the CKS asserted.

In this connection, the CKS strongly supported the decision of the join meeting of the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH), as was published in the local dailies and in this regard, added that the decision of the two bodies is for the welfare of the general populace. Therefore, the Chang Khulei Setshang declared that if Intngki Forest is to be settled or inhabited, then it should be done so by all general public irrespective of any tribe or community, “if not it should be kept as Common Reserved Forest uninhabited,’ the release added.
