Interfaith forum for peace and harmony in Manipur under the name ‘Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony’ was launched at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Imphal on June 19.
Imphal, June 19 (MExN): An interfaith forum for peace and harmony in Manipur under the name ‘Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony’ (IFPH) was launched at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, 1st MR, Hayingkhongbal, Imphal on June 19.
The forum was launch with an objective of giving relief, healing and restoration of humanity to all people affected by the violent conflicts in Manipur, stated in a press release received here.
Altogether, 34 people including religious leaders representing diverse faiths in Manipur: Christian, Catholic, Sanamahi, Manipuri Gauriya Vaisnav, Islam, Tingkao Ragwang, and various spiritual communities; Divine Life Society, Art of Living, Brahmakumari, Bhakti Seva Lup and Gandhian movement Ekta Parishad attended the meeting.
It maintained that members of the forum resolved to imbibe on a journey of interfaith understanding and culture of peace by taking moral and social responsibilities of the sufferings caused to thousands of people in both the hills and valley of Manipur.
During the meeting, Bidyapati Sanjenbam, Vice-president and K Ibomcha, member of LSTB shared eight core values of Sanamahism including Humility, Trust, Calmness, Honesty, Compassion, Good Thought, Reflection and Contentment. These core values of Sanamhism was appreciated as common values for interfaith understanding by all religious leaders from all other faith communities present in the meeting, it stated.
The meeting resolved to organise all faith prayers together to end the violence and heal the sufferings through humanitarian support services throughout the state. A working committee of the forum was constituted comprising two representatives from each faith communities and Deben Bachaspatimayum was appointed as Convener, IFPH.
