Mahila Congress: The Nagaland Pradesh Mahila Congress celebrated International Women’s day on March 10 at the NPCC Conference Hall, Kohima.
During the celebrations, the house declared its commitment to strive for women liberation and women empowerment, a press release from the Mahila Congress informed. “We re-affirm our stand to fight for equality, justice and respect for each other,” the release added.
NPMC also re-affirmed its stand on 33% reservation and urged the government of the day to withdraw the case and “implement effectively” in providing seats in the LSG & State Assembly.
The meeting further resolved to appeal women to participate in political system to enable implementation of the UN Vision 50-50 by 2030.
Kohima Law College: Kohima Law College commemorated International Women’s Day at the college campus, where several rights meant for women, including relevant articles of the Constitution of India which provide reservation for women and equality were highlighted by speakers.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor-in-charge for student’s welfare, Kezhokhoto Savi, while short speeches were delivered by other professors/teachers, including Soni, Tongpok, and Limanochet.
The programme also stressed that the theme of the day – ‘Pledge for Parity’ itself speaks loud enough that women are yet to be treated equally with men and the action is to take a step forward to bring the status of women at par with men, a press release from Kezhokhoto Savi said.
Team Metamorphosis: Along with the rest of the world, Team Metamorphosis celebrated the International Woman’s Day on March 8 at Hotel Hornbill Wokha with an affirmation to encourage the woman for their participation and contribution in the society where half of its members also comprise of woman themselves.
A press note from the club said, IWD was also a celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards woman.We share the message that we love them with a humble meal provided by male counterpart, it added. Team Metamorphosis also thank the NYKS Wokha and the Administration for selecting the team for the BEST YOUTH CLUB AWARD 2014-15 in Wokha.
