Zunheboto, March 2 (MExN): The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, has issued a notification stating that the District Planning & Development Board, Zunheboto will organise an intra-district Under-23 football tournament at the Public Ground, Zunheboto from March 10 to March 14.
A DIPR update informed that the tournament aims to promote sportsmanship and identify talented players for higher-level competitions. As per the guidelines issued by the organising committee, all seven constituencies under Zunheboto district must field one team each, with every team comprising 18 players and two officials. Participation of all seven teams has been made mandatory.
Officials said the district team for the state-level tournament will be selected based on performances in the intra-district competition. Each participating team will be provided a preparatory grant of Rs 50,000.
The prize money has been fixed at Rs 75,000 along with certificates and a trophy for the winners, while the runners-up will receive Rs 50,000 with certificates and a shield. Both semi-finalists will be awarded Rs 25,000 each with certificates, while the three losing teams will receive Rs 10,000 each along with certificates. Accommodation arrangements for teams will be managed by the respective teams at their own convenience.
Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj has urged all concerned authorities and sports associations to ensure full participation and smooth conduct of the tournament, stating that the event is expected to strengthen grassroots sports development in the district.
