A fuel outlet awarded to the family of Kargil War hero Captain Kenguruse by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) was rebuilt, with modernized amenities, and inaugurated today in Dimapur.
The retail outlet – M/S Kenguruse Enterprises, located at Kevijau colony – was let out to the late Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse’s family on IOCL land in memory and in honour of his sacrifice in the service of the nation. He was martyred in action on the icy heights of Kargil battling Pakistani infiltrators on June 28, 1999 and posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, the second highest military honour in India awarded to soldiers for displaying exemplary courage and bravery in the face of the enemy.
According to the IOCL, the retail outlet was running with the bare minimum facilities, since it opened in 2004. It was dismantled and rebuilt and apportioned larger space for greater customer and employee convenience.
The newly rebuilt facility was inaugurated by G Ramesh, Chief General Manager & State Head, Indian Oil AOD of IOCL along with other officials.
The IOCL also organised a ‘check and fill’ demonstration for customers to check the quality and quantity of fuel sold at retail pumps. The IOCL’s State Level Coordinator, Nagaland, said, “Any customer of IOCL can check the Quality and Quantity and send an SMS to a given number and win Xtrarewards points, which can be later, redeemed for fuel. A customer will send an SMS along with the Retail outlet code, cash memo number and a rating of H or U for Happy or Unhappy, respectively after checking the Quality and Quantity.”
It was informed that the phone number will be found displayed at any IOCL fuel pump.
