Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• Yes, ideally the young people should be at the forefront of the intellectual discourse as well as leading in their actions to shape a better future. But young people seem to have stopped thinking. They only want quick money and are not willing to work hard to put their footprints in the sands of time.
• Yes, because if young people dont take responsibility now then they will be more frustrated later when things gets out of hand
• you know ...why? b'cuz in ds generation what we usually call babus of naga or big naga, they never think what the future of naga will be...they only know how to corrupt n cheat their own naga brethren..so we can't deepened on such type of leaders n kept thinking that nagas future will be bright. it will be like a daydreaming which never come true..so it's the right time, the young nagas woke up n start working for a better naga future..Kuknalim!
• Its time the young people take more responsibilities, where are we now and how long will we wait? We need change and what more do we expect other than the responsibilities shouldered by the younger generation!
• yes.. old folks should retire gracefully. take the advisory role but leave those policy formulations and implementation to the youngsters.
• Yes, New mind and new innovative.
• We need update thinking practical living etc which ta young generation have.......
• Yes, its high time for the young people to hold responsibilities for betterment of naga future.
• Yes, if not no future. Let our young people learn this and start taking responsibilities
• Yes, very must, nagas young people need to look- up and look-out, nagas are waiting to see such a young who love his/her people and land.
• young people will bring much needed new ideas and development in the society.
• Yes the youth should be actively involved. After all it is their future
• Yes...........especially in politics..Since the young generation is more aware then the older generation about corruption, they should take up political responsibilities and shape a bright future for the nagas.
• Oh! Yes. It's time we need not ask this Question. We must just do it.... Look what has become to Nagaland, it has become too dirty. Forget about how we look at ourselves, but imagine how people even look down at us, and it's all because of DIRTY things that keep happening in Nagaland. The media does not write anything good about Nagaland, and sometimes, it's a shame to tell people that, "I'm a Naga".... We must defy, overthrow the present and replace Nagaland in a better place to live. Look at the politicians, public officers, church leaders etc, they represent Nagaland for all good and bad things, and it's very sad to witness that all they can think is what we have NOW.
• Yes. Let the youth start by asking the shop-keepers the one rupee change instead of accepting the FORCED sweet they give instead.
• Yes, the young people should be acting, but why are they not acting. Why is there complacency? Has our indifference and complacent attitude not become part of the structural decay? We have so many examples around the world where young people... have made timely interventions to give change a chance. The lack of action (just do it attitude) is not just the only problem we are facing. We need to pause for a moment and try to understand why is it the way we are. Perhaps with some honest discernment we will then know what needs to be done next.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• No, it is not yet time for young people to assume greater responsibilities because they hare not carrying any responsibility in the first place. Young people do not seem to be burdened by the vast challenges of our time. Rather they are still breast feeding, no wonder many of them are over weight. Today's young people are not ready to do great things, they seem satisfied to follow other people rather than charting out their own destiny.
• No, its never time for young people to take over. They have to wait for God’s own good time. Look at David.
• This present generation of young people are not fit to shoulder any responsibilities. Unlike young people in the past who were responsible people, these present generation of young people dont seem to care at all about the welfare of the people. They do not exhibit any value that is worth appreciating.
• The young people are lazy and chasing always after materialistic gain. They have no consciousness for the social good of the Naga people. How then can they lead the society. At this moment, the young Naga people may be the most irresponsible ones in this planet.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• There is a big gap between what is and what ought to be. There is enough reason to believe that what ought to be is that young people in Nagaland today should have been at the helm of affairs with their dynamic leadership, creativity and with their know how of the modern world. But what is, remains the fact that young people today are lazy, with no enthusiasm for any change, they are just waiting for God to come down and make their situation better. The young people today have become very superficial and have no concern for the welfare of the society.
• I dont think the young people are ready to assume the kind of responsibility that is required to bring change to Nagaland. All that they do is criticize other people and long for Nagaland to be like the USA. How is this possible without even attempting to contribute?
• High time, that the minds of the young people become sharper and wise, to share Common-good Responsibilities, with the intention to remove the stagnant stigma and, ill-traditional beliefs. The Young People ought to take refracted glory and achievement by their Education, broad Knowledge, creativity and, by Innovation principles. The Youth culture of today, are infact causing a deep stress to the families and to the society at large. They have been fed well by the society and, now their only job is to bring a spectacular transformation to a society where they were raised. Some are undoubtedly doing, what they are suppose to do, bringing laurels to the state and, adding more years to their aged parents. Its never to late to come clean, reform and, achieve higher heights. Talking about suggestions, more seminars and workshops should be enlighten and, encourage. It shouldn't be for the elites only but, to the general youths. It will be a positive awakening, truly. People grow, when there's in-depth knowledge and, ideas and, yes, the older generation should be a guiding soul to the youths of today.
• When a generation abdicates to reason they allow anything to happen; and create a generational gap of leadership and civic responsibility. Schism we have is expected and this is simply my personal observation; we focus too much of our time and energy on small things and avoid systemic things that is decaying our society. We criticise more but no efforts are invested to implement. We have avoidance issue this is not my responsibility. Can we learn something from Arab Uprising? There are frustrated people on the streets and parks in Russia against Putin? People are saying we cant change. Are we saying that? Can we channel our anger into something positive?
• I am a youth myself, sometimes its confusing to understand what is going on. Digging deeper into the picture gives more light and construction from there. Maybe thats where we could start
• The assumption of a greater responsibility by the young people for paving the way for a secure and stable future of all Nagas is, I believe, the call of the present reality as by studying and understanding the overall scenario of the Naga society at the moment. I cant help imaging the vague and uncertain future beckoning the upcoming generation in the distance without being seen the young people playing a pivotal role in moulding the Naga future. And the bottom line is: technology know-how, up to date knowledge, superior technical experts, spirit of entrepreneurship, slew of innovation, teemingly fresh ideas with ceaseless reserves of strength and energy of young people must be harnessed and strengthened by the clarity of vision and sagacity of the old people, but a sign of the times negatively indicates that doesn’t seem to be the case as the so-called contemporary naga leaders of the older generation are to blame squarely for messing up the present situation leading to the on-going imbroglio affecting all the Nagas at every stratum of socio-economic life of naga society. We the young nagas need to do much to recognizably assert ourselves on many social and political issues where our contributions are so far negligible and our role is subsidiary at best. The naga populace in its entirety somewhere deep down the line undoubtedly need the young people to shoulder greater responsibility not only in shaping the future but also reshaping the chasm-ridden naga society of the old order.
