Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• The government can only do what it can do. It gets the funds from the centre, it gives out the contracts and it is the duty of the contractors to see that the roads are made according to the specification of the criteria applicable. Don’t blame the government for everything and anything.
• The NPF government has done much more than any other previous governments. Public also must take responsibility and have some civic sense. The government builds, but the public destroys.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• As far as I know the Nagaland state govt is doing nothing to repair the potholes on the roads. Only some NGOs and colony people are doing the job. Even if the state govt is doing, it is too insignificant to notice because most of the roads in Nagaland are more like rivers than roads. I really cant figure out what the minister of road and bridges could be doing all these years? What is he elected for? And where have all the funds for road and bridges gone??? Like still-born babies Naga people’s representatives are ‘still-elected’ incapable of any action! Let these people GO and make way for those who are willing to make positive things happen!
• What SPEND money in repairs, no thanks rather it goes into to the bank account.
• It is obvious that the government has not sincerity or willingness to do anything about the roads in Nagaland. Even filling up the potholes seem too big a task for them to do, that local colony bodies and organizations have to fill up potholes themselves. Instead the government is too busy travelling to the Olympics.
• Had the NSG serious and concern for the people welfare. even begin way back from 2000 AD. state would not be in this position. their only sole goal is to filled the pothole of pockets.
• No.. Our present Govt called themselves as People's Govt, but they are so only in words and not in action. My dear DAN Govt please start "walking what your are talking (saying)." 'WALK THE TALK'
• NO. With all the cleanliness drive, repair and reconstruction activities, vigilant duties, reformation activities, et cetera being undertaken by individuals / groups / societies / organisations: I think the government (irrespective of its political party) should come up with something like "We - The Government - wanted to revive the long lost Dignity of Labour amongst the Nagas and thus halted all developmental activities till further notice!". This way they can be exempted from severe embarrassment...
• They have vanished al d money...n their pockets
• No. They must have forgotten or they don't care about development. Just look at the other North Eastern states and Nagaland.
• Not at all because the ministers are proud to say that Nagaland has the worst road system in India. In fact the Naga leaders believe in self benefit. The only thing they are good at is beg for vote never knowing what qualities they have. "True leaders never ask for vote". Potholes will always remain on the road in Nagaland.
• Looks like they are too busy filling their potholes in their pocket, repairing the road is not their concerned for general people.
• No. Had our government in the least filled potholes with soil or river sediment pebbles, we'd be witnesses but that's a far cry. It's heartening that many colonies/villages have taken up the task and repaired roads to some extent themselves but this is not the solution. No doubt, we should contribute our best to help our government (ourselves), but our elected leaders also must consider what they ought to do...hopefully, they're aware of their duties!
• My answer is a big NO and I don’t need to justify my answer because every citizen or non-citizen can see clearly with their naked eyes.
• No. But we have to analyse the cause of these potholes. The corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, contractors, national workers, babus processing the contract files are all to blame for the condition of our roads. We the public are also contributing our bit to deteriorate them. We drain all our house-hold wastes on to the roads (after all why not?? roads are common property). A little bit of common and civic sense will go a long way on our part. As for those corrupt people, God have pity on them.
• No, I better fly than walk on the roads even if I could, shame on them!!! What do they expect from their self contract works? Are they considered themselves as the king of the road repair? Or what else do we put to compared with their roads repair? Thousand shame on them? Is there no other Naga expert to do such work in time when huge amount grant by the central govt? Where is the 30s, 40s and 50+ percent of all money gone for road repairing? I wonder if money got their wings and fly..!!! The govt should be given right work to right contractors without taking by themselves. Unless no roads can become good lifeline for the people (be it town or bosti). Whatever maybe landslide, (mudslide) and different type of soils, etc.. A road without good quality and proper (NALA) is potholes….
• The Govt. is too busy with celebration of YOUTH FEST & all kinds of other events....wonder wat means of transport they'll use to reach those far flung areas
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• I do no wish to hold only the state government responsible. How about the contractors who are hiding behind the politicians. Firstly, it is no way possible in Nagaland for a person to get the contract to do the road without having some connection with the government. I think it is about time that the contractors are also bought to the book because they are using sub-standard materials and are not making the roads according to the criteria set by the government. The state of the roads in Nagaland is not only the fault of the Nagaland state government but also the contractors who are responsible for making them.
• If at all it is being repair then obviously they will do it at the lowest price and the biggest and heavy side income (profit).
• Just notice and you will only see this greedy big stomach sumo neta babus sleeping on their pork mythical figure. Do they have an active social conscience? I doubt it… Do they have a hope that they are leading us somewhere, that sometime it will make sense and that there will be a better future? I doubt it…. With our enormous funds for goodness and creativity and development yet with all the horrific mess we have got into? Explains both sides of their (govt) nature. This babus want to be a politician but they don’t know where to start and lay the foundation for a lifetimes all round prosperity.
• Out of the blue just as the elections are nearing, the MLA of the Nagaland assembly have agreed to resign for the sake of an interim arrangement. What a sham!! They have eaten away all the money in the name of development, they has stowed away riches that will last for their future generation and now they have the arrogance to do this. They cant even build good roads or at least ensure that good roads are build. They should hide their face in shame.
