Guwahati, February 26 (MExN): The ISEA (Information Security Education and Awareness) Cyber Security Awareness Week has commenced successfully at the Tapesia Campus Atrium, Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati on February 25.
The programme is organized to promote awareness of the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
The event, organized by C-DAC, NIELIT Kohima and NIELIT Guwahati in association with Assam Don Bosco University, commenced with an introduction to ISEA, highlighting the importance of cybersecurity awareness, digital safety, and responsible online practices in today’s technology-driven world.
The programme featured addresses by Daniel Meren, Additional Director, NIELIT Nagaland, MeitY, Government of India; Dr Ch A S Murty, Scientist–G and Centre Head, C-DAC Kolkata; Renukuntala Sheetal Kumar, IPS, Commandant, 1st Commando Battalion, Mandakata; and Rev Fr (Dr) Jose Palely, Vice Chancellor, Assam Don Bosco University, who collectively emphasized cybersecurity education, national initiatives, cybercrime awareness, and the importance of adopting safe digital practices.
The Chief Guest, Dr Tulika Pandey, Scientist ‘G’ and Group Coordinator (HRD), Government of India, in his address, delivered an inspiring and insightful address, highlighting the Government’s strong commitment to strengthening cybersecurity awareness and education across the country.
She emphasized the importance of capacity building, skill development, and collaborative efforts among academic institutions, government bodies, and industry stakeholders to create a secure and resilient digital ecosystem for the nation.
The programme also witnessed the formal release of ISEA posters, the launch of an awareness quiz, and the release of the ISEA Handbook. It was announced that a series of activities would be conducted throughout the Awareness Week, including workshops across the state, walkathons promoting cyber safety quiz competitions on information security, street plays to spread awareness among the public. These activities, it stated, aims to engage citizens of all age groups and promote safe and responsible digital practices.
The second session continued with a workshop on Cyber Security Awareness in the Age of Artificial Intelligence delivered by Jagadish Babu M Project manager, ISEA CDAC, which it stated, saw active participation from students and attendees of the workshop.
