The Directorate of Information Technology & Communication (IT&C) bade farewell to the outgoing Principal Secretary KD Vizo on April 3.
Vizo came to Nagaland on deputation from the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India and took charge of IT&C in 2014 and is going back to his parent department after nine years of service to the state.
Speaking at the get-together organized in honour of his services, Vizo said Nagaland as a state is now considered a front runner in the IT sector and the department has won awards both at North East and National levels. The greatest satisfaction came when the Department of Administration Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India rated the State of Nagaland as the best performing State among Hilly States in the country in ‘State Portal category’ for two consecutive years, he said.
All these had happened because of the unwavering support and corporation of all the staff of the department, he said.
Expressing that while a lot of achievements have been made, he said there is lot of improvements to be done still.
While being technical person, Vizo said after coming to Nagaland, he learnt ‘little bit’ of non-technical things as well ranging from handling various issues and this experience will be very handy in his new assignment, as telecom too is not new to facing various issues.
Sharing from the past experience of serving in New Delhi, Shillong, Agartala and Itanagar, he said Naga boys and girls have lot of expectation from a senior Naga officer, specially being a guardian to them as part of a greater Naga family “unlike the tribal equation which we have while we are inside.”
While expressing that he is unaware as to where his next posting will be, Vizo asserted to extend all possible help to the Nagas should the need arise.
He also assured to promote the brand Nagaland wherever he goes.
Nagaland’s IT&C director Er. Tongtiliba Longkumer extended best wishes to the outgoing Principal Secretary in his future endeavours.
He also highlighted that the State under Vizo’s leadership has won five awards which include - Computer Society of India (CSI-Nihilent Award 2017) - Best performing state in Northeast Region in e-Governance, Northeast Tech Sabha 2018 - Enterprise application award by Indian Express Group, National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2019 - Nagaland topped Service Delivery in the Northeast and Hill states category, National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2021 - Nagaland topped in State Portal in the Northeast and Hill states category and Indian Express Group & Express Computers 2022 - Nagaland wins on Enterprise Applications' for innovative best practices in e-Governance.
