Mokokchung, August 12 (MExN): Jubilee Memorial College (JMC), in collaboration with the District Integrated Strategy for HIV & AIDS (DISHA) and the college Red Ribbon Club, observed International Youth Day (IYC) 2026 at the college campus on August 12 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
EAC Mokokchung Kewimesin Nriame, the special invitee, encouraged youth to make a positive impact on society and stressed the importance of maintaining a good and ambitious circle of friends to bring out the best in one another. She also urged students to use social media wisely.
She encouraged students to pursue their personal dreams rather than conforming to societal expectations. Advising them to be prepared for inevitable failures, she urged youth not to give up and to strive for excellence through hard work and dedication.
Nriame also highlighted the value of promoting local arts and crafts to help young people remain connected to their roots.
The programme was chaired by Nungshiwapang, a Semester I student, while college Principal Dr Imtiwati Jamir delivered the welcome address. A special song was presented by Liju Achumi, a Semester V student, and winners of the elocution competition also made presentations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Chubaienla Imchen, Nodal Officer, JMC Red Ribbon Club, followed by the ceremonial flag-off of the “Youth on Wheels” initiative by Nriame, informed the State DIPR.
