Jamir, Imkong salute gallant Naga soldiers

DIMAPUR, FEB 8 (MExN): Goa Governor SC Jamir has expressed grief over the tragic incident in Chattishgarh where three Naga Police personnel were killed. “Ever since the 9 IRB personnel from Nagaland were deployed in the naxalite-affected areas of Chattishgarh, they have been showing their valour, discipline and commitment to their duties in spite of the adverse circumstances, thereby earning the goodwill of not only the people of the region but of the entire country”, Jamir stated in a condolence note addressed to Nagaland DGP. Pointing out that at no point of time in the history of the Naga people have so few Nagas brought so much fame and pride to the Naga people as the 9 IRB has brought us, Jamir stated that the boys have lived up to their reputation as the Daring Ninth and have served the nation before self even to the extent of sacrificing their lives for our great country. “Their bravery displayed all these years in the face of extremely difficult situations and terrains coupled with the discipline of the highest degree, have made us all proud and have propagated the reputation of the Nagas as traditionally gallant warriors”, Jamir noted while adding that the death of the three courageous Naga police personnel this morning in a booby-trap, was shocking and the perpetrators of such dastardly act can only be condemned as cowardly and inhuman.

“Forces inimical to peace and normalcy anywhere in the country need to be rooted out, for violence should not, and must not, be allowed to grow any more. The death of our boys this morning should not go in vain but should strengthen our resolve to fight against all forces perpetrating and harbouring violence in our country”.

Jamir expressed grief and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the police department, colleagues and friends of the deceased persons and their family members. “May the Almighty grant all of you solace and comfort at such a trying time as this. And may the departed souls rest in eternal peace”, Jamir stated.

In a separate condolence message, Nagaland’s Leader of Opposition, I. Imkong also expressed shock and grief at the tragic deaths of three gallant Naga soldiers. “The state has lost promising officers and a jawan and we salute their supreme sacrifice for the nation, which will always be remembered”, Imkong stated.
