Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): Still diffident of any decided action in the JEE fiasco, the Government is still “waiting” for Education Minister Imkong Imchen who is out of station, to return. Only after that the JEE matter would be discussed and “we will try to see that justice is done.”
“There is some communication gap. We will try to see that justice is done. Since the Minister is out of station we will take up the issue only after he returns” Planning Minister Dr Shurhozelie said responding to the query why the state government has yet to make any decided pronouncement or take action.
The Minister also expressed concern that the JEE issue is being “magnified” beyond its limits. In response to a remark that students are not taking lightly over the government’s inaction and delay as well as that an organization had already set an ultimatum, the Minister held the view that “negative attitude” would not help in the matter. “Yes, we have to advocate what is right for the people but I think everyone is trying to magnify the situation” he said expressing concern. “Negative attitude will not be good for the Nagas” Dr Shurhozelie said without specifying his view.
Evidently, the state government claims to be “don’t know” about the whole JEE affair. Most of the cabinet ministers, when contacted, either refused to comment maintaining ignorance of the matter that has roused the resentment of students and public alike or that “I only read in the paper and I don’t know anything about it” as one senior minister responded.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Lalhuma informed that an expected meeting with the Department of Information Technology & Technical Education on August 2 to discuss matter arising out of the JEE ‘nepotism’ issue, could not be held since most of the key officials were not available. He said that a later date would be set for the meeting.
