Jharkhand, Meghalaya and Haryana Subroto quarter berths

New Delhi, September 9 (MExN): With the on-going Under-17 Junior Girls group campaign picking up steam, the Junior Boys too, joined the fray to make the 58th Subroto Cup Football Tournament, being played at three venues, further enlivening the contests.   With as many as 13 matches - eight of them in Junior Boys category - scheduled for the day, the morning matches of the day for the boys were more pedestrian except in one case where the Air Force School (TAFS) mauled Gyan Bharti Public School from Bihar 10-0 at the Subroto Park ground with Pratyaksh leading the pack with three goals while Richpal Singh and Yatharth Negi striking a brace each in Group H.   In the other matches, Tripura Sports School drew with Uttrakhand’s Maharana Pratap College 1-1, Shah Satnam CBSE School from Ganganagar held Chandigarh’s Chitkara International School 1-1, and Father Agnel from Goa and 19 BN NCC from Ranchi drew 1-1.   The U-17 Girls matches at the Ambedkar Stadium saw Umtli Secondary School from Meghalaya defeating St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School (Mapusa) 5-0. In the other matches played in the morning, Mata Rukmini Higher Secondary School from Chhattisgarh held their nerves to beat Government Senior Secondary School from Sikkim 2-0, and Mungiakami Higher Secondary School from Tripura drew with Modern school Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.   In the evening matches, Government Girls Higher Secondary School (Tamil Nadu) were simply too good against a hapless Dakshin Mazbat (Assam) School girls. The girls from Tamil Nadu hammered the Assam girls 5-0 B. Mariyammal scoring all five goals.   The last match of the day at the Ambedkar stadium had St. Columbus Collegiate School, Jharkhand drubbing the Afghan Football Federation’s team from Aghanistan 4-0.
