DIMAPUR, MAY 12 (MExN): The Jalukie Students’ Union (JSU) today expressed dismay at what it termed was the “high handed attitude” of the Principal Secretary, School Education while dealing with the appointment of Grade –IV staff at GHSS Jalukie, “favoring a non-applicant for the post.”
A press note from the JSU said that the incumbent had voluntarily retired from his service on June 30, 2016. Jalukie village had recommended a candidate for appointment to the post “as per agreed terms and conditions between the Government of Nagaland and the Old Jalukie Village Council at the time of establishment of Jalukie Township,” the JSU stated.
It further informed that two other candidates had also applied for the same. “To the utter shock of the concerned department and the aspiring candidates, a non- applicant was appointed evading the candidates forwarded by the department, reminding the Principal Secretary in the same letter stating that the appointed candidate was not an applicant and his candidature was neither forwarded by the department,” the JSU said.
Informing that the union had protested this move and demanded revocation of the order, the JSU said that subsequently the demand of the landowner was met.
However, it lamented that a directive by the Principle Secretary had ordered revocation of the second appointment order and to appoint the non-applicant candidate based on purported document submitted by the earlier appointment that “Jalukie Town was a compensated land which was easily diluted without any authentication or confirmation from the competent authority.”
The JSU informed that following this, the union had countered the representation letter in the form of another representation “with all valid proof of the land in question and also submitted a Golden Jubilee souvenir which was recently celebrated on 17th November 2016 so as not to create confusion to the appointing authority and to uphold the instant order of appointment of the land owner’s candidate.”
It however alleged that the department has “coercively issued another appointment order” of the earlier candidate, thereby “depriving the sacrifices and kind gesture of donating land for establishment of Jalukie township by Jalukie villagers.”
The JSU informed that the Old Jalukie Village Council has expelled the earlier appointed candidate, who is a resident of New Jalukie village “based on customary law for his anti Jalukie activities challenging the integrity and sentiments by submitting false and distorted documents to the Education Department.”
The JSU further expressed concern at the “high handed attitude of the Principal Secretary, School Education,” who it alleged has “acted arrogantly over the issue thereby dragging the Jalukie land subject together in his own whims and fancy to favour his illegitimate candidate who is not an applicant for the post.”
It meanwhile demanded that the Principal Secretary, School Education immediately restore “the land owner’s right.” “Failing which, the Jalukie people shall resort to its own course of action that is deemed fit and proper to protect our rights,” it cautioned.
