KADTA threatens to stop plying in Deopani, Koilamati areas

Kohima, April 11 (MExN): Karbi Anglong Dimapur Transporters Association (KADTA) has resolved to “stop plying indefinitely” in Deopani and Koilamati areas till the issue over the extra money charged by a union in Deopani is resolved.

The Association had a meeting with owners and drivers of sand carrier vehicles on April 11 and discussed the matter regarding the “extra money” of Rs 1500 taken by Karbi Anglong Sand and Stone Mohaldar Union at Deopani NH 39.

A press release from KADTA president, Anil Toppo and secretary, Nito Sumi alleged that at mohal, only Rs 6000 is paid, but now the said union is collecting Rs 7500 without issuing money receipt.

“So it (meeting) resolved that the payment should be taken at the mohal after choosing the sand by the drivers,” the release said. “Unless and until the collection is stopped from the Union office, the drivers will stop plying indefinitely at Deopani and Koilamati area,” it added.
