Kalopsia- A collection of poems by Ovungthung Jungio and dedicated to the dreamers was released here today at Hotel Japfü.


Kalopsia, a collection of 81 poems and 10 proses is the 22nd publication of PenThrill Publication House.


Among the many poems in this book includes; 21st Century Romeo & Juliet, Bus Ride, Blank Page, Crossroads, Disco, Don’t Grow up, Labour day, Last Hour, Gulf, Fresh Green, First date, educated and unemployed, Tomorrow is cancelled, Brothers in Arms, Last day etc. etc.


Releasing the book, Dr. Lily Sema, principal Kohima Science College, Jotsoma congratulated the author for putting his thought beautifully and meaningfully and successfully came out with his collection of contemporary poems.


She also lauded Vishü Rita Krocha, publisher of Pen Thrill Publication House for connecting the young mind and putting sincere efforts to promote writing skills and literature in the state.


“Poetry, I think is one of the most creative ways to express and also address issues that are close to your heart. Kalopsia is an impressive collection of 91 poems and the author, O Jungio has brilliantly captured his experiences and observations in life, most of which are undoubtedly set here in Nagaland and his life in the city,” said Vishii Rita Krocha.


Many times, we fail to appreciate the most ordinary and the everyday common things that actually mean the most in the end. This is where I think poets come in and string words together and make you see the world with a different perspective, she added.


Krocha said that Kalopsia is one of the finest collections of poetry published by Pen Thrill Publication so far.


Congratulating Jungio, she was hopeful that he will continue writing and touch and inspire many more aspiring writers to express themselves freely in the form of writing.


Commenting on the book, Gopal Chetri (Basnet), vice principal Oriental College Kohima said that the outcome of Kalopsia is Jungio’s interest in writing since he was in class 7.


Being the engineering student, he wrote the poems and proses after completing his daily routine late night and early morning, said Chetri.
He said that Kalopsia is based on social commentary. The author used rethorical poems and proses to provide commentary on issues in the society.


The central idea of the poet is to promote change by informing the general populace about a given problems and appealing to people's sense of justice, he said adding that the book expressed about gratification, class divide, pseudo elitism- elite lifestyle and cultures, people' in poverty-mindset, electioneering system prevailing in current Nagas and the society, political environment, excessive consumerism, city/urban life, gullible rumours and satire etc.


“In totally, the author wants to explain about the prevailing environment in the societal set up. It is universal expression applicable to all the strata of the society,” said Chetri.


Ovungthung Jungio is the eldest amongst the four sons of Rukhyo and Mhalo Jungio of Chudi Village, Wokha District of Nagaland.


He is the alumnus of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha, Kohima Science College Jotsoma and completed Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering from National Institute Engineering Mysore (Mysuru).


Currently, Jungio is pursuing M.Tech. in Civil Engineering Bio technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.


The book priced at Rs. 300, is now available at Bible House (Kohima), Crossword (Kohima), Chapru (Kohima), OM Books (Dimapur) and Fusion Store (Dimapur).
