Kangtsung Village Council (KVC) clarifies

Although highly malicious perhaps not considered worth attention to a misconstrued statement by Tamlu Village Council (TVC) published in a local daily on 5th July ’10 yet felt necessary to clarify certain quotes of the said immaterial hearsay item.

The name “Pongen” and the version   referred to by TVC was completely not related to our ancestral history. But pertaining to our early history it has been stated in our earlier rejoinder through media on 8/10/09 and if anyone has further interest in the subject may come forward to KVC for more factual detail. It is also firmly reiterates that Tamlu is not related in our history in any manner whatsoever but a good neighbor for ages. When looked carefully, the whole contents of the statement by TVC are self contradictory. Hence it seems TVC is in a state of total mess and confusion as being unstable by nature.

Moreover, while referring to our statement through local daily Dt.11th June’09, it was universally factual on establishment of Anaki from Kangtsung which was a refutal to a concocted story by TVC through local dailies Dt.18th & 19th may’09 but never alleged any land encroachment by Tamlu. It is to further clarify that, J.H.Hutton the then SDO ( C ) of Mokokchung when visited our jhumland with DC Sibsagar on 8th Dec’1914 wherein he stated in his tour diary 1914-1917 that,’’ went with DC Sibsagar to see the land in the area claimed by Anaki. They showed jhums of ten (10) years ago, three years ago and two years ago” (traditional jhuming cycles). Thus the village was established long back and very old by then. And also no permission from any other village was sought nor paid tax to any village. Both Kangtsung and Anaki have all valid records to this effect which will be released as and when necessary and appropriate.

The whole plain areas bordering Assam had been jhumed by our people for ages even before Britishers came to this area and forcibly conducted surveys in our cultivated jhumland for tea garden extension in 1910 and 1925 which was out rightly rejected by us. Therefore the claim made by TVC over our jhumland area is nothing but a figment of imagination and misleading hence mockery. There are so many rivers, valleys etc. in our whole surrounding jhumlands and no controversy mongers should poke its nose or set evil eyes on it with fabricated stories.

As such, over an issue that matters exclusively our absolute concerns and has vested rights, from nowhere the threat issued by TVC against KVC and its members was highly inflammatory and uncalled for. Therefore if any eventuality occurs, the TVC, B.Chingshong and L.Paushong will be held directly responsible.
