
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 16 (MExN): After several months of politics related conflict in Kangtsung, leading to a number of citizens leaving the village, a consensus is said to have been reached among the citizens. Giving an account of how the conflict began, the Reongsanger Putu Menden Kangtsung, in a release said that the citizens’ forum had selected S. Imti Jamir on January 13, 2006 as its candidate for the coming election which was later reaffirmed by the village council. However some ‘self interested’ citizens had gone against the decision and supported T. Tali leading to the conflict which resulted in Tali’s supporters leaving the village for other places.
However, keeping in mind the welfare of its citizens’ the Council chairman, I. Nungkhum, said that the Putu Menden had called upon those to left the village to come back and abide by the resolution of the Senso and the Putu, which was agreed to by their return on January 15. The Reongsanger Putu Menden Kangtsung, therefore expresses happiness over their decision and also informs all its citizens to unitedly support S. Imti, the consensus candidate for the coming election, from now onwards.
