
Imphal | July 12 : A rebel activist of Kangleipak Communist Party (Moramba) arrested by local police from Manipur’s Bishnupur district last week also doubled up as an active army man, said a police source. Thirty-one-year old O Indrakumar aka Tamphasana from Ningthoukhong Khakhunou in Bishnupur district of Manipur was arrested by local police commando on July 9 from the neighborhood bus stand, said the source.
The source further add that Bishnupur police arrested the rebel activist on a frisking and checking operation following a reliable input that an activist of Kangleipak Communist Party (Moramba) nick named Tamphasana was in the vicinity planning subversive activities. Further interrogation revealed his identity as an active serviceman of 23 Assam Rifles bearing rifle no. 5000449 currently posted at Yaingangpokpi post Ukhrul district.
On earlier interrogation he identified himself as O Indrakumar aka Tamphasana while also revealing that he had joined KCP (Moramba) in the first week of April in 2011 through M Amu aka Somorjit aka Amuba, 26, s/o M Meghan of Khangabok Makha Leikai and had served extortion demands to several government officials, businesses and the general public, including to 4-5 specialist doctors, said the police.
He also told the police that the alias Tamphasana was given to him by the self styled commander of the party Moramba and that he was advised to function as a project officer of the party. According to his revelation, a strict instruction was given that the extortion money was routed through a fake SBI account to Moramba who stays in Gawahati.
The police has filed a case FIR no 69 (7) 2011 u/s 20/17 ua (P) A Act 04 IPC for further investigation.
