The United Committee, Manipur (UCM) warned of counter bandh if the Nagaland based Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) fails to withdraw its indefinite bandh which has affected the normal vehicular movement along National Highway 2.

Addressing a press conference at its office in Imphal today, UCM President, Joychandra Konthoujam said that they would impose counter bandh by joining hands with Assam based Manipuris. He also said that SAPO’s demand for “removal of security post on Manipur side of the Manipur-Nagaland border in Kezoltsa area” is uncalled for.
“If SAPO wants to resolve the border dispute, instead of imposing indefinite bandh, it should approach the state government of Nagaland,” he said while adding that it is always for harmonious living among the “Mongoloid groups” in the Northeast region of India.

He reiterated that “if SAPO fails to pay heed to the calls for withdrawal of the indefinite bandh then it will join hands with Manipuris settling in Assam to impose counter bandh.”
