KG Kenye appeal to expedite railway lines in Dimapur

Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): Eleven Members of Parliament (MPs) from six Northeastern states on September 6 held a meeting with a team of senior railway officials led by General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Sanjive Roy at NFR Headquarters, Maligaon.
During the meeting MP, Rajya Sabha of Nagaland, KG Kenye made an appeal to expedite the Dimapur- Zubza railway lines and the Dimapur- Tizit railway lines as well.
Keny requested to restore back the Divisional headquarters back to Dimapur which is currently held by Lumding, Assam. He pointed out that Dimapur being the 2nd highest grosser of revenues in the North East which is about 135 crores in the last three years i.e. from 2016-2019 and serving the states of Manipur as well as parts of Arunachal Pradesh/Assam.
He made the request to draw up a master plan for Dimapur railway station to provide basic amenities and state of the art technologies to be at par with the best stations around the country.
Keny asserted that railways must reserve at least 75% (Grade III and Grade IV) of the employment for the local qualified youths of the North Eastern States as justice was not done in earlier case with majority of the posts being taken up by the outsiders.
