Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Titosstarwell Chyne, has warned shopkeepers against indulging in price escalation of essential commodities.
“I strongly warn the shopkeepers within the jurisdiction of the KHADC that their trading license will be cancelled if they are found to be overcharging or hiding essential commodities,” Chyne said on Sunday
Several complaints have been received about such illegal activities on the part of business owners who are trying to take advantage of the situation arising out of the nationwide lockdown presently in force, he added.
