Zunheboto, August 17 (MExN): Nagaland PHED Minister, Jacob Zhimomi paid a courtesy visit to Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) on August 14 during the Zunheboto tour on occasion of Independence Day.
KPTA, President Ruokuobeilie Mere and General Secretary, Yibenthung Odyuo in a press release stated that Zhimomi was accorded reception by Nakro, Principal, KPA, teaching and non-teaching staff, GBs Atoizu, Land Donor’s Union KPA, Khelhoshe Polytechnic Teachers Association (KPTA) at the Principal’s official residence followed by a meeting.
During the meeting, KAP submitted a representation through the KPTA to the Minister. The representation appealed for establishing police outpost with at least one platoon full strength armed personal to be stationed permanently at KPA; to maintain smooth functioning of law and order in the region; water supply pipeline connectivity at the institution and all the government quarters; to establish banking facilities in the campus; and to establish Community Health Centre.
Due to deplorable condition of Coco road, the Association stated that the staff, students and faculties find it enormously hard to report and perform their duties and therefore requested the authority concerned to improve the road condition.
KPTA pointed out that there is no guest house in the campus for accommodation of guest from within and outside Nagaland, especially resource persons from AICTE, Delhi etc and therefore requested the Department of Tourism to hand over the guest house constructed by the department which is currently being used by land owners.
Further, the Association highlighted that land acquisition is a major problem hampering the development of KPA. It stated that the institute has appraised the government for purchase land on many occasions and the same have been agreed by the land donors. However, till now there is no positive response from the government.
Meanwhile, the Minister acknowledged that the up gradation of Degree Engineering College is of outmost priority for the institution and assured to give his best effort for the fulfillment of the same. He also assured to appraise the government to fulfill the demands and grievances faced by the institution.
