Khezhakeno declared ‘Led lighted village’

Phek, July 27 (MExN): Khezhakeno village was declared ‘LED lighted village’ on July 27 in a programme organized by the Chuketshe Society in collaboration with Khezhakeno Village Council at Khezhakeno village council hall.  

According to a DIPR report, Medovelo Sono, in his welcome address, while expressing gratitude welcomed the dignitaries and public and said that they initiated this 100% LED lighted village in July 2017 with the sole purpose to lower down the power consumption as they face continuous breakdown of transformers and load shedding in the village.  

After the transformation to LED, the consumption of power was reduced to a great extend of 20200 watts from 2250000 watts approximately which can be marked as a great achievement of the village, he added.  

DC Phek, Orenthung Lotha, NCS delivering his speech congratulated the village and the Chuketshe society in particular for taking up the initiative and achieving the 100% LED village which is one of a kind in the district.  

He apprised them about the benefits of using LED bulbs which is environment friendly. He hoped and believed that Khezhakheno village will be a Naga heritage museum in the near future so that this village might show us the historical and traditional ways of our fore fathers. As a stakeholder we should do our part and not solely depend on the government and challenge them for more participation and cooperation from each and every individual, he added.  

He further added that the Government of India has 41 flagship programme for village development. He also assured that more EAC post is to be created in the district. Later in the programme, Act of Declaration of the village was officially marked with a certificate of commendation by the Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Orenthung Lotha, NCS.  

Short speeches were delivered by President CPO, Kekhwengulo, VCC, S. Kepfhelhou Ladu, Addl. Secretary & Addl. Director ATI, Kevekho Kevin Zehol, NCS and, President TPO, Timikha Koza Advocate. Joshua Koza mandated the Signatory pledge to all the village khels and framed specific rules to uphold the LED Lighted village.
