KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): Frontal Organisations’ of the land donors of Kisama, Naga Heritage Village today cautioned people against indulging in anti social activities at the heritage village.
The Kigwema Women Society, Phesama Women Society, Kigwema Youth Organisation, Phesama Youth Organisation, Kigwema Students’ Union and Phesama Students’ Union in a joint statement resolved to take their own course of action against persons or parties indulging in sale of prohibited/banned items such as IMFL and other abusive substances in the area; those inciting or indulging in “gang/village or communal fracas;” those indulging in theft or destruction of public properties under heritage village; those involved in rallying/racing vehicles inside the heritage village; and persons posing “open obscene/unethical scenes” and wilfully polluting the area.
The organisations also took exception against groups and people “initiating and imposing their own self vested course of activities and conditions upon people in the area without the sanction and approval of the two villages and the department.”
They meanwhile urged the Tourism Department to be more engaged in the maintenance and upkeep of the area and facilities installed therein. Every year after the Hornbill Festival, the organisations lamented that “the entire area and properties installed there are just left completely exposed and unguarded.” It said that the area has now turned into a “hub for all unexpected and unethical activities.”
