(Morung Photo) Morung Express News Kiphire | June 30 Kiphire Deputy Commissioner, Mohammed Ali Shihab, IAS addressing the lunching of district level workshop on Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign in CMOs Conference room on June 30 called upon the medical fraternity to take the vaccination program as a missionary work and work with open sense. He said that the campaign should be result-oriented and no one should be left out of the vaccination program. The DC reiterated that as Kiphire is declared as an Aspirational district, focus will be on key sector such as Health, Education, Financial inclusion, Agriculture, basic infrastructure and Power. He informed that out of these, special focus will be given in health and education sector. He expressed hope that the spirit of the campaign in eradication and eliminating Measles-Rubella will go the village level. He urged the vaccination team to properly sensitise the people about the advantage of vaccination, so that the vaccination campaign achieve its objectives. People in the developed countries face lifestyle disease, while in the case of India as a developing country, it is still facing communicable diseases as a result of which GoI is focusing more in health sector, the DC added. Expressing concern over the lack of accessibility to good health care facility in Kiphire, the DC pointed out that the department needs to come up with a mechanism, which need to carter to the demand of the people. He maintained that good health care of citizens is basic human rights which cannot be denied. Briefly highlighting the aims and objectives of the campaign, Dr. K Pewezo Khalo, DPO (UIP&RCH) informed that the program is the initiative of the GoI and that Kiphire is the first district in Nagaland where campaign for elimination and eradication of Measles- Rubella is been launched. Dr. Pewezo stated that vaccination campaign will be held in phase-wise manner, adding around 9 crores children across India has been vaccinated by Measles Rubella (MR) vaccine. He said the primary purpose of the workshop is to sensitise health workers and how to carry forward the Campaign to achieve its aims and objectives. Also speaking in the event, R. Wilfred, IAS SDO (C), Kiphire said advancement in health and education has the potential to transform social setup and expressed hope that issues relating to health and education facing rural population will be solve in priority basis in future. Maintaining that Kiphire has the potential to transform itself, the SDCO (C) called upon the Medical Officers to be open in giving suggestions, opinions and ideas to improve the standards of health care in Kiphire.
